Have a Voice: Engaging with the MCSD Board of Education

The Murray City School District (MCSD) Board of Education highly values the input and involvement of parents and community members, recognizing that effective governance relies on diverse perspectives. Your engagement is not just welcomed—it's essential for student success. Research shows that when families are actively involved in school governance, students experience improved attendance and higher academic performance.
The MCSD Board provides several ways for the public to share input and partner in district decision-making:
1. Public Comment at Board Meetings
The most direct way to address the Board is by speaking during the Public Comment portion of a regular Board meeting. This time is specifically set aside for citizens to share suggestions, concerns, and insights on topics not already on the agenda.
-
How to Speak: Individuals are typically asked to sign up prior to the meeting. Speakers are usually allotted three minutes, and remarks should be addressed to the Board as a body, through the Chair.
-
Can't attend in person? Every Board meeting is live-streamed and recorded, offering transparency and convenient access. You can watch the meetings live or on demand through the District's YouTube channel.
2. Direct Communication
If you cannot attend a meeting or prefer a different format, you can always contact the Board members directly.
-
Email or Phone: You can reach the Board by emailing individual members or the district office to ensure your comments are formally received and reviewed by the entire Board.
-
Written Submissions: Written comments or documents relevant to an agenda item can be submitted to the Board Secretary for distribution.
The MCSD Board encourages all stakeholders to take advantage of these opportunities to stay informed and help shape the future of our district. You can find meeting agendas and contact information on the official MCSD Board of Education page (using the general BoardDocs link for MCSD).
